Michigan man fatally shot at Lyons gun range

A Michigan man died Tuesday evening after he was shot multiple times in the neck and head in an apparent accident at a gun range in west suburban Lyons.
Michael Babinski, 49, was shot about 1:55 p.m. in the gun range area at the Midwest Guns shop in the 8500 block of Plainfield Road in Lyons, authorities said. Detectives were investigating the shooting as a possible accident, Lyons Police said.
Officers found Babinski on the first floor with a “serious head wound,” apolice said.
Babinski, of Pickford Township, Mich., was initially taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was declared dead at 5:36 p.m., authorities said.
Detectives were interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance from inside the gun store, police said.
Midwest Guns sells guns and ammunition and has a shooting range, according to its website. The store also offers firearm-training classes and concealed-carry classes.
