A Sunday autopsy determined that a man found dead Saturday morning in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood was beaten to death.
The body a man, believed to be in his 20s, was found about 7 a.m. Saturday in the 5100 block of South Ellsworth, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.
Although police initially thought the man had been shot in the head, an autopsy conducted Sunday determined his cause of death to be head injuries resulting from a beating, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said. The death of the man, whose identity remains unknown, has been ruled a homicide.
