Two men shot in Wicker Park during fight

Two men were shot after two groups of people started fighting late Friday in Wicker Park.
The men, both in their 20s, were in the 1400 block of North Damen when they were shot about 11:45 p.m., police said.
One man was shot in the leg, while the other was shot in the abdomen, police said. Both were taken to Advocate Illinois Medical Center.
Mike Payett, a 24-year resident of the neighborhood, said the shooting happened after two groups of six or seven people each started fighting in Wicker Park itself.
The fight spilled out onto nearby Schiller Street, then went back into the park where the men were shot, said Payett. He said he heard between six and 10 gunshots.
Area North detectives are investigating.
