Police are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction early Friday in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood about a block away from a CPS Safe Passage Zone.
The alleged abduction attempt happened about 7:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Indiana, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Unconfirmed reports said three children were approached by a man with a gun, but that was not confirmed by police.
Officers are looking for a white vehicle that was reportedly involved, but police said it has not been seen on surveillance video from the area at the time of the attempted abduction.
A Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman said the incident is under investigation, but officials are receiving conflicting reports about the details of the incident.
The address of the incident is about a block north of a Safe Passage Route for Dulles Elementary.
