A man was charged with sexually assaulting a woman early Sunday near the Loyola University campus on the far North Side.

Michael Dixon, 37, of the 1300 block of West Estes, is charged with felony aggravated criminal sexual assault, battery and attempted robbery, said Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli. He was also cited for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.

Police were contacted after Dixon allegedly made inappropriate sexual contact with a 20-year-old woman, then demanded money in the lobby of a building in the 1400 block of West Albion about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Mirabelli said.

Officers spotted Dixon, who matched the description of the suspect, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk in the 6800 block of North Sheridan, Mirabelli said.

The victim positively identified Dixon as her attacker.

He is expected to appear in bond court Monday.
