Rescue workers pulled a woman from the Chicago River after she jumped in for a swim on the city’s North Side on Sunday morning, authorities said. Firefighters rescued the woman from the river at Oakdale Avenue at 8:45 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department. She was swimming and refused to leave the river, Chicago Police said.
She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
It is illegal to swim in the Chicago River, according to Chicago Police Officer Jose Estrada, a department spokesman.
