A northwest suburban man was charged with beating another man with a baseball bat last weekend.

Albino Damian-Lopez, 24, of Palatine, struck the victim in the face multiple times with a bat during an argument late Aug. 10 in the 1500 block of Norway Lane in unincorporated Palatine Township, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office. The 27-year-old victim was taken by paramedics to an area hospital with serious injuries to his left eye and face, a statement from the sheriff’s office said. Damian-Lopez allegedly struck him once, then hit him again after he fell to the ground.

Damian-Lopez turned himself into police on Sunday. On Tuesday, he appeared in court and bond was set at $125,000, the sheriff’s office said.

He is due back in court in Rolling Meadows on Sept. 5.
