A man robbed a Bucktown bank Tuesday morning by handing over a note and implying he was armed.
The robber entered Cole Taylor Bank, 1965 N. Milwaukee Ave. about 10:15 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. The robber implied he had a weapon.
The suspect is described as a black man between 35 and 40 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10 with short hair. He was wearing a brown and beige striped, long-sleeved shirt, Mirabelli said.
After the robbery, the man fled north with an undisclosed amount of cash.
It was at least the 79th bank robbery of the year in the area, according to the FBI. Last year there were 218.
