A second man has been charged in the June 28 shooting deaths of a South Side woman and her 5-year-old son, police said Saturday.

Larry Cox, 28, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 31-year-old Chevonne Brown and her son, Sterling Sims.

Cox, of the 1400 block of West 85th Street, is also charged with violating parole.

Brown and her son were shot to death in their home in the 5300 block of South Winchester Avenue.

On Aug. 2, Antonio Lewis, 18, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one of attempted first-degree murder in the deaths.

The police said Lewis tried to shoot Brown’s 11-year-old son as well, but his weapon malfunctioned.

Lewis was shot later that day and remains hospitalized.
