A teacher at a South Side high school was charged Friday with having sex with a student in her classroom.
Chicago Vocational Career Academy teacher Bridgette Miller, 39, asked a student for the cell phone number of a 17-year-old classmate, then sent the teen text messages, according to court documents.
Miller and the student later allegedly had sex behind a Walgreens near East 87th Street and South Cregier Avenue on March 17, and again on March 22 in Miller’s classroom in the CPS school in 2100 block of East 87th Street, according to court documents.
Miller is listed on the school’s website as a medical technology teacher. A CPS spokeswoman could not immediately provide further information.
Miller, of the 1100 block of North Hamlin, was charged with criminal sexual assault, authorities said. Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered her held on a $150,000 bond on Friday.
Authorities recovered text messages from the boy’s phone that indicate sexual contact, according to court documents.
Miller will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 29.
