A woman was sexually assaulted inside a River North business Tuesday night, police said.
About 10:15 p.m. an unidentified male approached the store in the 0-100 block of East Illinois Street and told the 42-year-old victim that he had forgotten something inside the store, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The woman let the male in, at which point he produced a knife, took her to the rear of the business and sexually assaulted her, Gaines said.
The woman went to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment after the attack, Gaines said.
Nobody was in custody Wednesday morning as Area Central detectives investigated.
