One dead, six injured in Far South Side crash

A motorist was killed in a three-car crash involving a Far South Side funeral procession Tuesday afternoon.
Six people were hospitalized, three in serious-to-critical condition, after the 1 p.m. crash at 109th and Vincennes, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The crash involved three vehicles, one of which was in a funeral procession, the fire department said. Four people were pinned in one car, and heavy tools were used to extricate them.
Dennis Canady, 39, who was driving a Buick, died after the crash, according to fire media and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Canady, of the 1300 block of East 83rd Street, died at 1:56 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the medical examiner’s office.
A child was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition; two people were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition; two adults were taken to Stroger Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, and one was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair-to-serious condition. One person refused medical attention.
