A two-alarm fire ravaged a small commercial building on Chicago’s West Side for nearly three hours Saturday night before firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

The building housing Mr. Clean Hand Car Wash at 3249 W. Harrison St. that was destroyed by the fire also was home to Heavenly Visions Hair Salon and a mechanic’s shop.

The fire began around 7:15 p.m. Saturday when spilled gasoline in the mechanic’s shop at the one-story building was ignited by a spark from a broken light, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

No one was hurt.

But the fire, which was out by shortly after 10 p.m., caused the back wall of the building to collapse, according to the fire department, which said the building appears to be a total loss.
