Firefighters rescued three residents from the second floor of a West Pullman neighborhood home Thursday morning when their escape was blocked by fire on the home’s first floor, Fire Media Affairs said.
Two residents were hospitalized in good condition. Three people were displaced.
The fire, which began about 5:30 a.m. in the first floor of a two-story frame home at 20 E. 117th St., is considered suspicious.
The three rescued were a man, a woman and a girl whose age was not known. The woman and girl were taken to Roseland Community Hospital for minor smoke inhalation. They were in good condition, according to Fire Media Affairs. The man refused transport to a hospital, according to Fire Media.
The city Department of Human Services was contacted to assist the two adults and one child displaced by the fire, according to Fire Media.
