A 65-year-old woman and her 14-year-old grandson were seriously injured Monday night in a hit-and-run crash as they crossed a West Englewood street.
A 21-year-old man driving a green minivan left the scene after hitting them at 6:13 p.m. near 65th and Paulina, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
Police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the minivan a short time later and arrested the driver during a traffic stop in the 6300 block of South Throop, Greer said.
The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition late Monday, authorities said.
Her grandson was listed in fair condition at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital of Cook County.
Charges were pending against the driver, Greer said.
