THORNTON — A northwest Indiana man died on Sunday after being tasered by authorities in south suburban Thornton, but an autopsy proved inconclusive.
Mark A. Koves, 28, of the 9500 block of Roosevelt Street in Crown Point, Ind., died at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at 5:44 p.m. Sunday after being Tasered, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
However, a Monday autopsy proved inconclusive, according to the medical examiner’s office, with the determination of cause of death “pending futher studies.”
Thornton police officers responded to a 4:30 p.m. call Sunday of a naked man in the street near the Hubbard Park pavilion and Wolcott School at 200 N. Wolcott St., according to a statement from police.
When officers approached, the man “became very erratic and combative” and officers were forced to subdue him, the statement said. He was taken to a hospital, according to Thornton police.
