Suicide threat prompts South Loop road closures
SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE June 7, 2013 8:10AM
A man threatening to jump off a building has prompted police to close several South Loop streets while officers attempt to persuade the man to come down.
South Michigan has been closed to traffic between Roosevelt and 13th, and 13th is closed between Michigan and Indiana, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Responders’ efforts are focused on a building in the 1200 block of South Michigan, where a man in his 20s was threatening to jump from the 10th floor of building, police said.
“We’re in communication with him trying to come to a peaceful resolution,” Mirabelli said of the incident, which started about 6 a.m.
Several CTA bus lines have been rerouted to avoid the area, including the #3 King Drive, the #4 Cottage Grove and the #12 Roosevelt buses, according to a CTA alert.
