Man dies after falling on Red Line tracks

A California man died early Friday after he fell off the Addison Red Line train platform and came into contact with the third rail, authorities said.

Otis Carmichael, of West Covina, Calif., fell onto the third rail about 1:35 a.m., authorities said.

The 44-year-old was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was declared dead about 2:15 a.m., police said.

Carmichael’s apparent cause of death was electrocution, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
