A motorist died after he was ejected from a car during a rollover collision on Interstate 57 early Wednesday, Illinois State Police said.
The crash happened about 12:05 a.m. in the expressway’s northbound lanes near 147th Street in south suburban Posen, leaving a 2005 Cadillac in the center median, state police said.
State police said the Cadillac and another car were travelling north when they collided. Both vehicles then also hit the left concrete median, at which point the Cadillac rolled over.
The Cadillac’s driver and sole occupant, a 29-year-old man, was ejected during the crash and taken in serious condition to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island, where he died a short time later, state police said.
Nobody in the second vehicle was hurt.
The northbound lanes were temporarily closed.
