Firefighters extinguish blaze in Englewood

Updated: June 3, 2013 7:12AM

Firefighters extinguished two house fires that spread from one home to another early Monday in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Almost 60 firefighters responded at 4:40 a.m. to a blaze in a two-story home at 6818 S. Sangamon St., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez said. The fire had also moved to the two-and-a-half story home next door, at 6816 S. Sangamon St., he said. Both were extinguished by about 5:15 a.m.

Hernandez could not immediately say if the buildings were occupied, but no one was injured in either of the blazes.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
