A man and two teenage boys have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man at a party Friday night in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side.
Dionte Maxwell, of the 8400 block of South Marshfield, was shot twice in the chest and died late Saturday at Jackson Park Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Charles Southern, 19, of the 1100 block of South Vernon, and two 16-year-old boys were each charged with first-degree murder, armed home invasion, attempted home invasion and mob action, police said. Southern was to appear in bond court Monday.
Police said the man and the two teens were asked to leave a family party in the 8400 block of South Constance about 10:45 p.m. Friday. After they were escorted outside, there was an argument and Maxwell was shot by Southern, police said.
