A South Side man was sentenced to 35 years in prison Wednesday after he admitted he strangled his 14-month-old son.
Donald Johnson was arrested days after Dontrell Johnson’s body was found floating off East 68th Street in Lake Michigan in October 2010.
Johnson, of the 2200 block of South Princeton, apparently killed the child because he believed the boy’s mother may have started seeing someone else, Cook County prosecutors said at the time.
Johnson was taking care of Dontrell and when the boy’s mother ignored his texts in which he expressed his desire to see her, he told her he planned to kill himself and the child, prosecutors said.
Johnson, 33, pleaded guilty to murder before Judge William Lacy.
