Blue Line trains halted early Saturday for deer on tracks near Cumberland

Updated: May 25, 2013 7:30PM

Blue Line trains were temporarily halted Saturday morning on the Northwest Side near O’Hare Airport so crews could attend to an injured deer on the tracks.

The deer didn’t appear to have been hit by a train but was injured and couldn’t get off the tracks on its own, CTA spokesman Brian Steele said.

It was spotted west of the Cumberland Station around 6:45 a.m.

All trains between the Harlem and O’Hare stations were held up as crews helped the deer. L service was restored in about 45 minutes.
