An Austin man was charged Friday with the shooting of a 10-year-old boy earlier this week.
Darris Moore, 31, is accused of shooting the boy in the buttocks Wednesday night in the 900 block of North Waller Avenue.
Police said the boy was playing near his home when a fight broke out between two nearby groups of males.
A gunman then came running north on Waller, firing shots at one of the groups involved in the fight, police said.
One of the bullets struck the boy, who was not the intended target, police said.
Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said the boy was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “stable” condition.
Moore, of the 800 block of North Waller Avenue, is expected to appear in bond court on Saturday.
He is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
