Chicago man charged with telephone bomb threats

EVANSTON — Evanston Police arrested a Chicago man Thursday who allegedly threatened to blow up the Civic Center and police department building.

Vincente L. Alford, 33 of 7528 N. Claremont Ave., is charged with two counts of disorderly conduct/telephone harassment, a Class B misdemeanor.

A total of four calls places to the Evanston Police Department between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday were made from a cellular phone that was traced back to Alford, police said in a written statement.

According to police, Alford was upset over receiving a parking ticket earlier in the day on Wednesday.

He is scheduled to appear at 1: 30 p.m. May 29 in 2nd Municipal District Court, 5600 Old Orchard Ave., Skokie.
