One injured in Uptown high-rise fire

One person was hospitalized Wednesday after a fire in an Uptown neighborhood high-rise.
The fire started in the kitchen of a seventh-floor unit of the 100-by-125-foot residential building at 5030 N. Marine Drive, according to Fire Media Affairs.
A still-and-box alarm and EMS Plan I response, which sends at least five ambulances, were called for the fire about 9:15 a.m.
One person suffered smoke inhalation and was taken in fair to serious condition to Weiss Memorial Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs. That resident had trouble breathing, fire officials said.
The building does not have sprinklers, according to Fire Media.
The fire was extinguished by 9:35 a.m.
