A Northwest Side man was in critical condition after he was struck in a hit-and-run crash Sunday, a day before his 51st birthday, in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
He was crossing Ogden near Pulaski a few minutes before 11 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a gold or orange four-door Pontiac going southbound on Ogden, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Witnesses said the car was going about 50 mph and the man was thrown about 30 feet, police said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with blunt trauma, police said.
The vehicle was described as a 2002 to 2004 model that likely has damage to the windshield and the passenger side, which hit the man, police said.
Anyone with information about the car or the driver was asked to contact the police Major Accident Unit at (312) 745-4521.
