An elderly couple died Saturday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 355 near Woodridge.

The Illinois State Police said it happened around 3 p.m. when a Toyota Tundra pickup truck hit the driver’s side of a Ford Taurus in the northbound lanes of Interstate 355, the Veterans Memorial Tollway, near Boughton Road.

They said the driver of the Taurus, Daniel J. Simone, and the passenger, Dimple Simone, were killed.

They were pronounced dead at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook, the Will County coroner’s office said.

The driver of the Tundra had minor injuries.

Two northbound lanes of the tollway erew closed after the crash but reopened by 7 p.m.
