22 arrested in gun, drug sweep

More than 20 people were arrested following a drug and gun sweep Wednesday in the south suburbs.
Authorities recovered in their “community safety initiative,” which included sweeps of Calumet City, Lansing and Burnham, a .357 Magnum, a .34 caliber Glock 21, a .30 caliber long rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s police also recovered a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver from a person whose FOID card had been revoked for mental health reasons, the sheriff’s office said.
The gang unit and Department of Corrections teams also recovered a .22 caliber Luger pistol and about 170 grams of marijuana, officials said.
Twenty-two people were arrested on warrants and officers issued 49 traffic citations.
