Man handed 18-month prison sentence for hiding evidence in Chicago cop-killing case

A South Side man was sentenced to 18 months in prison earlier this week for hiding evidence tied to the murders of a Chicago Police officer and a former Chicago Housing Authority cop.
Timothy Willis, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday to obstruction of justice/destruction of evidence in the 2010 case involving Police evidence technician Michael Flisk and ex-CHA officer Stephen Peters, according to court records.
Although Willis wasn’t the shooter, authorities said he hid the murder weapon as well as other evidence from the Southeast Side shooting.
Peters, 44, had called police to his mother’s garage in the 8100 block of South Burnham after noticing his red Mustang was broken into. The 46-year-old Flisk, working by himself, responded.
Flisk and Peters were shot in the head by Timothy Herring Jr. as Flisk processed the scene, police said.
Herring, 22, is awaiting trial.
