Ethanol was leaking from a tanker truck Monday night after a three-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the Reagan Memorial Tollway near far west suburban Maple Park.
At 8:14 p.m., a passenger vehicle rear-ended a car, which was sent spinning to the left and hit a truck hauling a tanker between Shrader and Watson roads, Illinois State Police said in a news release.
The tanker began leaking ethanol, and police shut all lanes of the tollway about two miles east of the border between Kane and DeKalb counties.
State Police could not immediately say whether anyone was hurt in the crash.
Traffic remained intermittently shut down in both directions as emergency crews continued to respond to the crash, police said.
