Police: Semi hits, kills woman on Near West Side

A semi truck struck and killed a female pedestrian Monday on the Near West Side.
The accident occurred at 8:34 a.m. in the 800 block of West Randolph Street, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
A woman in her 20s was crossing Randolph Street when she was struck by a semi traveling westbound, Mirabelli said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Mirabelli said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but would not release further details pending family notification.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
