A 28-year-old man bit off a piece of another man’s ear during a “domestic dispute” involving his girlfriend in Southwest suburban Justice, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Richard Vody, 28, allegedly forced his way into his girlfriend’s home in the 200 block of Walnut Lane Friday morning and argued with a 26-year-old man he found there, the sheriff’s office said in a release.
During the fight, Vody allegedly leaned in and bit off about half of the man’s right ear, the sheriff’s office said. The victim, of West suburban Westchester, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Vody, his girlfriend and the victim all knew each other, the sheriff’s office said.
Chicago Police canine units found the missing part of the man’s ear Saturday “near the residence,” the sheriff’s office said.
Vody, of the 7800 block of Garden Lane, also in Justice, faces one count of home invasion, one count of aggravated battery, and one count of domestic battery, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bond was set at $250,000 and he was released, the sheriff’s office said.
Vody is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
