Man dies after dirt bike crash in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE — A 23-year-old man died Sunday after a dirt bike crash last week in Crystal Lake.
Kyle Pratt, 23, of the 900 block of Whitehall Way in Crystal Lake, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 12:32 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The motocross crash occurred at 5:21 p.m. on April 13 on ComEd property west of Terra Cotta Road and south of Nunda Trail in unincorporated Crystal Lake, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.
A 2002 Suzuki RM Motorcross was traveling east on the ComEd property, beneath high-voltage power lines, when the driver lost control, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver was ejected from the bike, which continued traveling east until it struck a chain link fence, the sheriff’s office said.
Pratt, who was not wearing a helmet, was initially transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry but later airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital, the sheriff’s offices said.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s office Accident Investigations Unit was investigating the crash.
