A firefighter was injured during an apartment building fire in the city’s South Chicago neighborhood early Thursday.

A still and box alarm was called about 1 a.m. for a fire in the 8200 block of South Chappel Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim.

The fire was contained to the second floor of a two-story apartment building, Ahlheim said.

One firefighter was taken with minor injuries to Advocate Trinity Hospital, Ahlheim said.

The fire was extinguished at 1:30 a.m., Ahlheim said.
