A man accused of taking pictures of a judge at the Bridgeview Courthouse Wednesday was sent back to jail for a probation violation.
Calvin Woods, 25, allegedly admitted to taking the photos of Judge Thomas M. Davy during a probation violation hearing to prove to his girlfriend that he was in court. He planed on posting them online, authorities said.
Davy ordered Woods held until his next court date on April 26, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident happened just two days after Cook County Chief Judge Tim Evans banned cell phones and laptops at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse in the 2600 block of South California Avenue.
Electronic devices will eventually be banned at all 13 Cook County courthouses where criminal cases are heard, but the ban had not yet taken effect at the Bridgeview Courthouse when Woods allegedly took the photos.
Evans instituted the ban after judges complained onlookers were taking photos of jurors, witnesses and others.
