Two Naperville homes hit by lightning within two minutes

The fierce thunderstorms generated lightning that struck two houses within two minutes of one another Wednesday afternoon in southern Naperville.
Deputy Naperville Fire Department Chief Rick Sander said the first bolt struck at 3:27 p.m. and damaged a house on the 3100 block of Kingbird Lane. That is on the city’s southwest side and southwest of the intersection of 95th Street and Route 59.
Sander said lightning struck two minutes later at 3:29 p.m., damaging a house on the 2400 block of Thaxton Court. That home is just south and west of Walnut Ridge Park on the far southeast side.
The houses are roughly six miles apart.
