Metra train strikes pedestrian in Des Plaines

DES PLAINES — A man was fatally struck by a Metra train Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Des Plaines along the Union Pacific/Northwest line.
The No. 618 train bound for Chicago struck the pedestrian at 7:30 a.m. near the station in Des Plaines, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death and said the victim was a man, but was not releasing his identification pending family notification.
The outbound No. 607 train began moving about 9:30 a.m. with a delay of 108 minutes, according to the Metra website.
Inbound trains began operating again about 10 a.m., Metra said.
