2 Wisconsin women accused of human trafficking in case involving teenage girl in River Grove

Two Wisconsin women have been charged with human trafficking involving a teenage girl in the Chicago suburb of River Grove.

Elizabeth Roeder, of Milwaukee, and Shannon Hathaway, of Stoughton, Wis., were charged with involuntary servitude of a minor and trafficking for labor/benefits.

Bail was set Saturday at $175,000 for the 41-year-old Hathaway and $150,000 for the 33-year-old Roeder, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office, which says investigators responded to an ad on a website and that an undercover officer was offered sex in exchange for money Wednesday at a Super 8 Motel in River Grove.

Investigators say Roeder and Hathaway were placing ads with photos of the juvenile and themselves under “Escorts” in the adult section of the website.

The department says the victim was reunited with family.
