A 49-year-old west suburban Elburn woman was found dead in her SUV early Thursday morning after being involved in an accident overnight.
About 5 a.m. Thursday, Kane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle off the road on Green Road, just south of Main Street in unincorporated Blackberry Township near Elburn.
Officers found a Chevy Traverse near a tree on the east side of Green Road, which had apparently been involved in an accident sometime overnight, a statement fromt he sheriff’s office said.
Inside the SUV they found Marilyn Gould of the 2S200 block of Green Road in Elburn, who was pronounced dead on the scene, the statement said.
Gould’s vehicle was apparently traveling south on Green Road and for some reason left the road on the east side, then came back onto the road and veered off on the west side, according to police. It again came back onto and crossed Green Road before stopping near a tree on the east side.
Gould, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, according to police, who said the crash occurred about a mile from her home. Police said there were no other vehicles involved.
There were no witnesses to the crash, which remains under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
