Three people suspected of robbing a cellphone store in north suburban Deerfield were arrested Monday night after a police chase that briefly put a college campus on lockdown.
About 7:45 p.m., a 911 caller told police about an armed robbery at a T-Mobile store in the 100 block of South Waukegan Road, according to a statement from Deerfield Police.
A police officer nearby saw a car fleeing the scene and chased it to an area near Half Day Road and Interstate 94 in Bannockburn, the statement said.
Three people jumped out of the car and ran off, police said. Two were arrested within minutes. The third was found about an hour and a half later hiding in a nearby office building.
Trinity International University, along Half Day Road next to the tollway, was briefly put on lockdown as police investigated, according to the school’s Twitter feed. The lockdown was lifted about 10 p.m., the message said.
