A 30-year-old Schaumburg man who attended the Cubs home opener Monday allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face in plain view of Chicago Police Officers at Union Station as the two argued about whether to take a train or a cab home, a police source said. The force of the blow knocked the woman to the ground.
“She wanted to take a train; he wanted to take a cab,” the police source said.
The man was arrested about 9 p.m. and was detained at the Central District police station late Monday as charges were being reviewed.
He told police he had been drinking alcohol before he slugged his 33-year-old girlfriend, the source said.
The woman, who’s from Arlington Heights, refused medical attention and told police the man had never done anything like that to her before.
