An alleged bank robber was arrested just hours after he held up a Loop bank — when cops recognized him from a news report.
Chicago Police were tipped off that the man responsible for a Thursday afternoon heist at the Amalgamated Bank at 100 South State Street was hiding out in the 4400 block of West Jackson, according to court records.
When they found Jack Dudley, 57, at his home, they checked the internet for news of the robbery and found a security camera photo of the robber that the FBI had released.
Though Dudley — an alleged member of the Gangster Disciples gang who goes by the street name “Zodiac” — bears a strong resemblance to the robber captured on camera, as of Sunday he had only been charged with possession of heroin police say they found in his shoe.
But Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Charles Prochaska said during Dudley’s bond hearing Sunday that the FBI intends to charge him with the heist this week.
