Fire reported at Rivers Casino in DesPlaines, but games roll on

A fire broke out at a northwest suburban casino Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called about a fire at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines just after 8 a.m., the Des Plaines Fire Department said. The fire was under control a short time later.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
Casino spokesperson Jodie Kaplan said the incident did not affect business and that the casino opened on schedule at 9 a.m.
Kaplan said a tile fell from a chimney into a fireplace in the casino’s outdoor smoking area. A casino employee declined to answer questions about the fire.
