Train service on the CTA Blue Line on the Near West Side was delayed Sunday afternoon with fire department activity near the UIC/Halsted station.
Firefighters were on the scene in the 400 block of South Peoria Street as of about 1:25 p.m. A still-and-box alarm was called for a report of a fire there, according to dispatch reports, but that alarm was quickly called off.
There was no fire found at that location but a train near the UIC/Halsted station had some smoking brakes, according to dispatch reports. That train was stopped near the station and apparently going to be taken out of service.
The fire response resulted in a delay affecting Blue Line trains in that area, according to the CTA.
By about 1:40 p.m. trains were moving through the area again but the CTA advised riders to expect some residual delays.
