The body of a 41-year-old woman was pulled from the North Branch of the Chicago River Tuesday morning on the Northwest Side.

Police were notified about 8:15 a.m. of a body in the river near the 4200 block of West Foster Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The police Marine Unit was called to the scene, Estrada said. The body was pulled from the river and identified as that of a 41-year-old woman, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has been notified, an office spokesman said. The medical examiner’s office and police were not releasing the identity of the woman until next of kin had been notified.

Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation.
