A southwest suburban woman was charged with aggravated DUI after she allegedly fatally hit a man early Saturday as he walked near O’Hare Airport.
Sheryl Perry, 21, 2000 block of Sutcliffe Drive in Romeoville, was charged with felony count of aggravated DUI that caused accident or death, striking pedestrian in roadway, driving under influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and transporting or carrying alcohol.
The accident happened about 1:35 a.m. in the 5800 block of North Mannheim Road.
A 21-year-old woman was driving a PT Cruiser south on Mannheim and it may have been cut off by another vehicle, police said. The woman swerved her car from left to right to avoid a crash, and in doing so she struck a pedestrian and a parked Volvo, which was disabled, police said.
The man she struck may have been the owner of the Volvo, Mirabelli said.
Marek Bajson, 49, died after the accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy Saturday determined Bajson died of multiple injuries from an automobile striking a pedestrian and ruled his death an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
