Man shot during home invasion in Berwyn

BERWYN — A man was shot in the face during a home invasion Monday in west suburban Berwyn.

Two men broke down the door of an apartment in the 3600 block of Clarence Avenue and shot the victim once in the face about 10 a.m. Monday, city spokesman Brian Pabst said.

He was in surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and unable to talk to police as of about 1 p.m., Pabst said.

The suspects were described as a man wearing a black skullcap, black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants; and another man with a goatee wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, Pabst said.

They were last seen running toward the alley behind the apartment building.

Pershing Elementary School and the Berwyn Park District were temporarily placed on lockdown after the incident, but both are back on regular schedules, he said.

Berywn police are investigating.
