HANOVER PARK — A homeless northwest suburban man has been charged with 27 counts of burglary to storage units in an unincorporated area of Hanover Park after a yearlong investigation by DuPage County sheriff’s police.
The burglaries happened between April 1 and June 15, 2012, at the Cubesmart Storage at 25w630 Army Trail Road near Hanover Park, according to the sheriff’s office. In that time, sheriff’s deputies took reports from victims of the 27 individual storage units that were burglarized. Their investigation led them to David A. Udaundo, 41, a homeless man who formerly lived in Bartlett, the sheriff’s office said. Udaundo has been charged with 27 counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony.
The total loss to the victims is unknown at this time, the sheriff’s office said.
Udaundo is being held at the DuPage County Jail pending a bail hearing.
