A McHenry man allegedly robbed a hair salon in Fox Lake after he got a haircut,

officials said.

William Bolton, 36, of the 5000 block of Fox Lake Road, was being held on $100,000 bond for allegedly robbing Cost Cutters of $250 while brandishing a large kitchen knife instead of paying $14.95 for the styling, officials said.

Bolton is charged with one count of armed robbery. He also was wanted on a warrant for violation of an order of protection.

Fox Lake police said Monday that Bolton went into the Cost Cutters at Suite 108, 2 W. Grand Ave., Friday night and asked for a haircut.

Police alleged that Bolton gave a fictitious telephone number to the staff, which asks for the information to track customers.

After his haircut, he pulled out the knife and demanded money, according to police.
